About the Challenge

Join our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge and give your child a head start on a lifelong love of reading! Research highlighted in The Enchanted Hour shows that reading aloud to young children stimulates brain development, strengthens emotional bonds, and fosters empathy and imagination. Studies have also found that the simple act of sharing stories helps build early language skills, increases attention spans, and lays the groundwork for future academic success. In fact, children who are regularly read to in their early years are more likely to enter kindergarten with larger vocabularies and stronger comprehension skills. By participating in this challenge, you’re not only creating precious moments together—you’re giving your child the tools they need to thrive.

A Cycling Adventure Through Iran: An Encore Presentation by Author Hans Frischeisen

Date & Time:
Saturday, February, 2023 from 1:30-2:15 PM
Location: FPL Meeting Room
Audience: All ages

Join us for a second presentation by local author Hans Frischeisen, author of Pedaling, Paddling and Pedes: A Pronoic Adventure around the World by Means of 'Muscle Fuel'. In this installment of Mr. Frischeisen's series, we will hear about the author's travels through Iran.

In an earlier presentation, Mr. Fischeisen told an audience, “I think there’s a great misunderstanding of the faith of Islam. I was in a hotel in Iran, and there was a Christmas tree there. Now, this is the world of Muslims. I asked them about it, and they said the Koran says ‘To me my religion, and to you, yours.’ That’s pretty generous, right? It’s not narrow-minded. That’s acceptance.”
